South Korea: Land of the Morning Calm
It requires a higher level of engagement and energy to navigate foreign places and interact with people from a culture so different than my own. I found myself surprised and intrigued on a daily basis.
Having now left, I am thankful for the opportunity to have enjoyed the captivating colors, spectacular architecture, and delicious foods of South Korea. And, when I really think about life & how we live it, I learned the most from the kind people I encountered along the way.

I had been in Korea for several months before deciding to venture out for a drive. I’ve driven in Atlanta, DC, Boston, and LA. But driving in Korea is its own level. The rules of the road are somewhat different and often ignored…there’s the small detail of not being able to read any of the signs and Waze and Naver have minds of their own. To say I was reluctant would be an understatement.
But, once Autumn rolled around, people began posting about the pink muhly grass that was in bloom and that did the trick…I found a good reason to get that monkey off my back! I ventured out with a friend and thankfully, the drive wasn’t nearly as crazy as I had anticipated. I did have a lady march blindly into the street in front of my car…fortunately, she saw me and stepped back onto the sidewalk - but not without looking at me as if I was the crazy one.
All in all, it was a great first drive.
