South Carolina: The Palmetto State
South Carolina has become a top destination for travelers. With a rich history, unique architecture, tons of wildlife, picturesque scenery in every direction and carefully preserved culture and traditions, it is no wonder why visitors would be enamored by her.
As a native of South Carolina, one thing I take great pride in is how welcoming and friendly the locals are with visitors. We enjoy sitting outside on a gorgeous day, connecting with new friends over amazing cuisine, cool beverages and great music.
While I may be a bit biased, there’s definitely something very special about The Palmetto State.

Fences
Location: Pawley's Island, SC
These small but mighty wooden fences have a big job. As part of preserving the dunes, these fences help support a safe, inviting environment for sea turtles to nest in the summertime.
It’s a pretty awesome sight to see an adult sea turtle. They are quite massive and can weigh as much as 250 pounds.
There are several places along the coast where you can go on sea turtle patrols with a ranger to learn more about them.
While these beach fences add a lovely aesthetic that we enjoy, they’re actually working hard to preserve the beach ecosystem and help the flora, fauna, birds, turtles and numerous other critters to thrive.
