Quiet Morning on Loch Portree
Location: Loch Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland
Scotland is known for having unpredictable weather. As the saying goes, if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it’ll change. We once experienced wind, rain, hail and beaming sunshine in a matter of 5 minutes in Edinburgh so I’d say that quote is pretty applicable.
One of the notable weather features of Scotland that my husband and I have discussed many times since visiting is not the infamous rain but the wind. When combined with the cold and the dampness in the air, it leaves a memorable impression.
What a glorious surprise on this morning to enjoy not only the quiet but the stillness on Loch Portree. Both, of which, can be elusive in the day to day. We don’t often have an opportunity to sit still without noise or movement around us as a distraction.
The name of the boat pictured is "Aspire". How apropos…I "aspire" to enjoy moments like this more often.
