The remote islands of Okinawa, Japan make up a large portion of the archipelago of the Ryūkyū Islands located in the Pacific Ocean and the East China Sea. There are so many incredible places in Okinawa with dramatic clouds and stunning beaches in every direction that makes you feel like you're living in a dream. It's even called the "Hawaii of Japan." The pace of island life is pretty slow, allowing each day to unfold organically and creating an amazing space for creativity to thrive.

Jagged Coastline
Location: Okinawan Coast, Japan
A while back, I had a rare opportunity to take a helicopter ride around Okinawa.
The extensive coastline consists of plentiful white sand beaches, colorful coral reefs, and rugged cliffs with turquoise blue waters churning at its base.
I’m especially thankful that I prepared in advance as to how I was going to photograph this experience. This was my first time in a helicopter and while I genuinely loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat, the bumpy ride was not quite as serene as the view.
I walked away with an unforgettable experience, a few shots that I really love, lots of lessons learned, and a temporary “claw” from the death grip I had on my camera.
